The on-site shredding process is reassuring and hassle-free; customers can observe the shredding process first hand.

However, unlike on-site shredding—where you are able to watch the documents being destroyed—the off-site shredding process disposes of files out-of-sight from clients and doesn’t provide that same sense of assurance that on-site shredding provides.

There’s a number of things you should look for when selecting a shredding company. First, find out if it provides on-site shredding or off-site shredding. You can ask if they are NAID AAA Certified. If yes, ask some questions about the service and rates. If they are not NAID AAA Certified, make sure they meet all Federal and State Laws regarding document destruction and how they do that. NAID AAA Certified shredding companies must shred in compliance with all those laws in order to get certified. Ask if the shredding company is environmentally friendly and recycles the paper afterwards. The important thing is to ask enough questions so you feel comfortable that your private and confidential files will be destroyed safely and securely.
